On behalf of the Southeast Wisconsin Homeland Security Partnership (SWHSP), we are excited to announce that registration is now open for our final education session of the year! Inspired by this summer’s CrowdStrike outage and designed by SWHSP members, this session will focus on continuity planning, framed by discussions on disruptions to critical services. Here are the details: Preparing for the Unexpected: IT Disruptions, Continuity & Organizational Resilience Date: Thursday, November 7, 2024 Time: 1:00 – 3:30 PM Location: Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Training Academy, 9225 S. 68th St., Franklin, WI 53132 Agenda:
Description: This summer's CrowdStrike outage affected 8.5 million devices and disrupted essential services in sectors like aviation, healthcare, and local government. At this event we’ll explore continuity planning and practical strategies for managing unforeseen disruptions. Attendees will learn lessons from real-world incidents, gain insight on practical steps to enhance continuity plans, and take-home actionable approaches for maintaining operations during crises. The final part of this session will feature our annual meeting, when we will hold executive committee elections and discuss 2025 topics, ensuring we stay ahead of emerging challenges. Who should attend? This event is designed for a broad audience, not just those in IT. While we'll be discussing technology disruptions and outages, the session is relevant to anyone with preparedness or response roles, across both the public and private sectors. Cost This event is open to both SWHSP members and non-members. Members attend free, and non-members are $30 at the event. To learn more about joining SWHSP, please visit their website linked here!
